Earliest meeting: Thursday 10th August 1732
Final meeting: Friday 11th August 1732
The Hampshire market town of Ringwood is located on the River Avon on the edge of the New Forest with Southampton to the north east and Bournemouth to the south west. It boasts a rich history having been recorded in the 1086 Domesday Book as Rincvede, and has held a market charter since 961. Given its important location so close to the New Forest, the town was held by 3 successive Queens, namely Eleanor, Margaret and Isabelle, between 1280 and 1331. In the early part of the 18th century the town staged race meetings, the first of which was recorded in John Cheny's Historical List, taking place on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th August 1732.
